What I Do

Therapy, Relationship Counselling and Professional Supervision
Therapy
I use a strategy-based approach to treatment incorporating evidence-based therapeutic models such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness and schema therapy. Symptoms or problems with functioning often arise from an incomplete skill-base for managing specific situations or challenges.

My aim is to empower clients to effectively manage life and work stressors by providing them with strategies to enlarge their ‘tool-box’ for coping.

I provide therapy on a short-term and long-term basis, depending on the needs of the client. I value continued professional development and attend professional supervision as well as peer supervision groups on a regular basis. I attend conferences and workshops regularly to ensure awareness of recent research and its applicability to clients.

I also provide Professional Supervision for others working in a range of professions including nurses, lawyers, doctors and other mental health professionals.

I enjoy working with adults experiencing a range of psychological difficulties including:
  • Anxiety (panic, worry)
  • Depression
  • Stress
  • Relationship Problems
  • Grieft and Loss
  • Life Transitions
  • Grief
  • Anger
  • Trauma
  • Adjustment Difficulties
  • Family Difficulties
  • Supervision
  • Sleep Problems
Dr Sal meets with clients for an assessment session, where the aim is to establish what you are having difficulties with, and how you would like things to be different.

My aim is to collaboratively work with you to reach your desired goals. This might include using one, or a combination of, approaches from the Cognitive-Behavioural, Acceptance and Commitment or Interpersonal model of therapy. I can help you to think about difficult situations differently, to find new ways of relating to yourself and other people and to learn new strategies for problem-solving. I am able to present workshops about depression, anxiety and sleep problems on request.
